Position Summary
The Housekeeping & Maintenance Supervisor oversees and coordinates all housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance operations. This leadership role ensures that residents enjoy a well-maintained, hygienic, and welcoming environment while supporting departmental staff in achieving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and supervise housekeeping and laundry operations to meet resident needs and compliance standards
- Oversee maintenance operations, working closely with contractors, vendors, and AON Maintenance staff
- Recruit, train, schedule, and manage performance of Housekeeping & Maintenance team members, including payroll processing
- Monitor departmental budgets, inventory, and purchasing to ensure cost-effective operations
- Conduct regular inspections and audits, documenting results and implementing improvements
- Support infection control, health and safety programs, emergency preparedness, and WSIB claims management
- Respond to urgent or after-hours maintenance and facility issues as required
- Build positive working relationships across departments to enhance resident satisfaction and operational efficiency
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field preferred
- Knowledge of HVAC, building systems, electrical, and fire/life safety systems is an asset
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a retirement or long-term care setting
- Supervisory experience strongly preferred
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable with technology
