Job Summary: The H&S/HR Generalist at Sodecia Automotive London supports and enhances the organization’s Human Resources, along with the HRSM, through positive employee relations, recruiting and maintaining/implementing human resources policies, programs and practices, as well as all areas of the business for Occupational Health & Safety matters.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provides problem solving, analysis, training, coaching related to safety & ergonomic improvements;
- Conducts accidents/incidents investigations following internal and external protocols;
- Develops action plans and conducts follow-up internal and external safety audits to address all plant safety and environmental issues and adherence to applicable policies and procedures, legal requirements; ensure corrective safety actions are developed and implemented;
- Coordinates 5S audits, ensure corrective actions are developed and implemented;
- Selects the correct personal protective equipment according to the existing risks ensuring proper and effective control/monitoring of costs;
- Practices safe working techniques and re-enforce safety policy, guidelines, safety rules, procedures and all legally required legislation;
- Provides direction and support on all safety and environmental compliance inquiries;
- Collects data, maintains records and manages filing systems for Health & Safety and Environmental according to internal procedures and legal requirements;
- Creates and reviews daily, weekly, monthly, and annual safety reports to analyze critically all possible causes and severity of working accidents and diseases and define the preventive and corrective actions;
- Participates actively in the definition of new equipment’s/tools (phase project) in order to assure all legal safety requirements and ergonomics best practices;
- Develops, facilitates, schedules and coordinates safety training sessions according to legal and internal programs requirements;
- Maintains records of training and competence requirements in line with all stakeholders (internal and external) requirements (Customer Specific/ISO/IATF/Provincial Legislation)
- Participates in the maintenance of the ISO 14001/45001 programs in accordance with company policy and procedure, conducts audit, environmental training, workplace inspections and advice on environmental enquiries;
- Implements, administers and maintains HR policies, programs and practices.
- Responsible for full cycle recruiting
- Updates job descriptions
- Supports payroll and benefits programs as needed.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Education & Qualifications:
- 3+ yrs. of manufacturing related experience with hands on operational knowledge (preferably practical experience in automotive industry manufacturing environment).
- ISO 14001/45001 experience is required
- Bachelor’s degree or College education in safety engineering, management and/or Diploma in HR or Business Administration.
- Certified Safety training according to local legal requirements.
- Safety technician experience is an asset;
- Solid working knowledge of OSHA 18001, ISO 14001, 5S Methodology;
- Experience working in an organization that has a well-implemented “Safety Culture” is an asset.
- Previous experience in a unionized environment an asset
- Good working knowledge of current and changing legislation.
- Ability to work independently and in a team with limited supervision/direction
Working Conditions:
- Well-lit climate-controlled office area. Moderate exposure to noise (excess 85dBA) and dust when in the manufacturing environment.

Safety and Housekeeping:
- Responsible to adhere to all Health and Safety programs in accordance with the OHSA.
- Follow and ensure the Company’s procedures regarding safety rules and regulations are followed throughout the plant.
- Ensure that you work and operate equipment according to SODECIA safety rules and regulations.
- Ensure that your department is clean, tidy, organized and a safe workplace at all times.
- Responsible to adhere to all Environmental Program ISO 14001 elements and attend training for same. Act in accordance to all Environmental policies, procedures and regulations.
