Kuugaq Café
Cambridge Bay’s newest business venture is looking for a front end Café Server/Barista to join our team! Kuugaq Café is a young, fresh dynamic team working together to provide fresh, healthy and delicious meals for our community.
We are looking for a passionate and engaging individual to manage our café and be the Server/Barista. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day to day operations of the café. The individual should have strong competencies in the day to day operations of café management as well as be comfortable hosting and planning special events.
As this is a small establishment the Server will also be responsible for taking orders by using the point of sale system, preparing drink orders including using the espresso machine, and cleaning up during slow times in the morning and afternoons. Other duties include accounting (specifically food costing), customer interaction, possible customer complaints, and cash close out at the end of the day. Ensuring staffing is adequate, training new staff, and working with the chefs to plan the daily menus will also be a requirement of this position.
We are looking for term positions as well as full time permanent. Further discussions will be had with the successful proponents.
Responsibilities
Supervise servers and baristas
Lead, supervise and coordinate servers and baristas
Monitor sanitation practises and follow kitchen safety standards
Monitor revenues and modify procedures and prices
Ensure health and safety regulations are followed
Provide customer service
Plan, organize, direct and control daily operations
Knowledge and Skills
Experience working in the restaurant/café environment (Minimum 2 years)
Proven experience in a supervisory role (Minimum 1 year)
Understanding of the fast -paced kitchen environment
Prior food service and preparation experience .
Comprehensive knowledge of coffee, use of espresso machine and specialty coffee making
Ability to work well in a team
Ability to successfully lead a team
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Positive attitude, reliable, organized
Ability to multi-task
Finance management would be an asset
