Human Resources Generalist – Talent Acquisition Focus
Job Responsibilities
Summary
The HR Generalist – Talent Acquisition Focus is responsible for leading full-cycle recruitment for hourly and salaried positions within a manufacturing environment while providing general HR support in accordance with company policies, and Ontario employment legislation.
This role partners closely with hiring managers to attract, assess, and onboard qualified talent, while supporting employee relations, HR administration, and compliance activities as required.
Key Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition & Recruitment (Primary Responsibility)
- Manage full-cycle recruitment for hourly, technical, professional, and leadership roles.
- Partner with hiring managers to define job requirements, competencies, and selection criteria.
- Prepare and post job advertisements using approved job descriptions.
- Source candidates through job boards, networking, referrals, agencies, and community partnerships.
- Screen resumes, conduct phone and in-person interviews, and coordinate technical interviews.
- Administer and track candidate assessments, reference checks, and background checks.
- Prepare and extend employment offers in alignment with internal compensation guidelines.
- Coordinate onboarding activities to ensure a positive and compliant new-hire experience.
- Maintain accurate recruitment metrics (time-to-fill, cost-per-hire, turnover, pipeline health).
HR Generalist Support
- Provide guidance to employees and supervisors on HR policies, procedures, and basic employment standards.
- Support employee relations matters including attendance, performance management, and progressive discipline.
- Assist with interpretation and application of the Employment Standards Act (ESA), Human Rights Code, and Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
- Support onboarding, orientation, and probationary reviews.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation.
- Assist with HR programs such as performance reviews, training coordination, and engagement initiatives.
Compliance & Administration
- Ensure recruitment and hiring practices are fair, consistent, and compliant with applicable legislation.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee and candidate information.
- Support audits, reporting, and HR metrics as required.
- Participate in continuous improvement of recruitment and HR processes.
Continuous Improvement & Employer Branding
- Identify opportunities to improve recruitment effectiveness and candidate experience.
- Support employer branding initiatives, job fairs, and community outreach.
- Contribute to HR projects and initiatives as assigned.
- Review and update all job descriptions utilizing employee experience.
- Create banks of interviews to be used for all positions
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- CHRP designation or working toward CHRP is an asset.
Experience
- 3–5 years of HR experience with a strong emphasis on recruitment.
- Experience recruiting in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred.
- Exposure to hourly, skilled trades, and salaried recruitment is an asset.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong interviewing and candidate assessment skills.
- Knowledge of Ontario employment legislation and HR best practices.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple requisitions in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with HRIS and applicant tracking systems (ATS).
- High level of professionalism and confidentiality.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $52,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
