The Role:
We are looking for a Legal Operations Specialist to join the MDA Space Legal team. In this role, you will provide support to the MDA Space legal department in a variety of areas including project management, technology matters, finance and budget management and designing of legal and cross-functional processes to ensure efficiency in the delivery of legal services across the MDA Space business.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the legal function, including planning, prioritization, and tracking of team workstreams and initiatives.
- Support routine public company compliance matters, including certain regulatory filings
- Support with management of corporate records and affiliates
- Build, monitor and track external spending budgets and support with the general management of external counsel and support with the maintenance of the legal department’s annual operating plan.
- Lead with the evaluation, selection and oversight of technology tools being utilized by our legal, compliance and contracts teams.
- Provide project management support on cross-functional projects that the legal team is supporting with, including mergers, acquisitions and integration.
- Assist with the mapping and standardization of workflows across the legal team as well as with cross-functional workflows that the legal team is involved with.
- Maintain and enhance legal knowledge management, ensuring templates, precedents, guidance, and training materials are current, well-organized, and accessible across the legal, contracts and compliance functions.
- Coordinate legal team touchpoints (team meetings, offsites, etc.) and support with the actioning of agreed upon projects.
Job Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required. A post-bachelor legal education, either in the form of a Juris Doctorate, Bachelor of Laws, or equivalent degree, or formal paralegal accreditation from a Canadian law society is considered an asset.
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in an operations or business transformation role or as a paralegal or law clerk. Experience in a law firm or as part of an in-house legal team is considered an asset.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to speak to legal and non-legal stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience improving processes and implementing or managing business systems/tools is an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a capacity to build strong working relationships across the legal team.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, a keen attention to detail and an ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, effectively managing priorities while meeting timelines.
- Eligible to qualify for Controlled Goods Program and NATO Secret security clearances

The compensation range for this position is $70,000-95,000 annually. The specific compensation offered will be based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
