Mission Eye Care is a fast paced, local, 6 doctor independent optometry practice located just south of downtown Calgary in the community of Mission. We continue to grow and are looking to add another full-time pre-tester to join our team! About the Role
As a Pre-Tester, you play a key role in creating an exceptional patient experience and supporting our doctors throughout the examination process. You will be responsible for gathering patient history, performing preliminary testing, maintaining patient flow, and assisting with various clinical procedures.
Responsibilities
- Communicating with patients, staff, and doctors
- Obtain and accurately document patient medical history, learning medical terminology, and abbreviations as needed
- Perform pre-testing and diagnostic measurements prior to examinations
- Prepare examination rooms and maintain cleanliness of equipment and workspaces
- Administer eye drops and perform ancillary testing as required
- Assist with dry eye testing and treatments
- Train patients on proper contact lens insertion, removal, and care
- Maintain efficient patient flow throughout the clinic
- Update and maintain electronic patient records
- Assist with contact lens ordering, inventory, and patient follow-up
- Support clinic operations through various administrative and clinical tasks
Participate in ongoing training, staff meetings, and continuing education opportunities

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in an optometry, ophthalmology, medical, or aesthetic clinic is considered an asset
- Experience working directly with patients in a healthcare environment
Comfort performing hands-on clinical procedures and working closely around the eyes and face

Schedule
- Full-time, 40 hours/week.
- Alternating schedule: one week Mon–Fri, the next Tues–Sat (with a 3-day weekend).
- Up to 2 late nights per week (finish by 7pm).
- Option for a 4-day work week (32–40 hours).
