Tri-Star Technical is one of Canada’s premier data network solutions specialists. We provide a variety of services essential to every business and every industry, including; Fibre Optics, Voice & Data Cabling, Wi-Fi services, CCTV Security, and Low Voltage Lighting. We are seeking an experienced Low Voltage Cabling Assistant Project Manager & Estimator to join our team.
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist Project Managers in the day-to-day coordination of projects including developing detailed project plans, scheduling, budgets, and ordering of materials.
- Conduct regular site visits, oversee work progress and to ensure all work is completed in compliance with local codes, safety requirements, and industry best practices.
- Apply for, obtain, and manage electrical permits in compliance with local codes and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare scope of work, labour and material estimates for low voltage systems in a competitive bidding environment that includes private, and public and government competitions. Meet bid schedules and deadlines, working within a very strict timeframe
- Attend site-walkthroughs and pre-bid meetings, and keep detailed notes and pictures as to the existing conditions of the site for creating concrete bids and material lists.
- Facilitate meetings, workshops, and project reviews.
- Ensure clear communication among team members, stakeholders, and leadership.
- Manage change requests and ensure proper documentation of project activities.
- Maintain project documentation, reports, and records.
- Complete RFI’s as required.
- Ensure that all estimating work meets customer needs in addition to Tri-Star’s quality and safety standards.
- Stay up-to-date with new technologies and continued training while working on new industry certifications.
- Willing to work on jobsites when required.
Qualifications:
- A valid Voice Data Video “M” Class license or Red Seal Journeyman Electrician Certification
- Electrical Contractor “C” License
- Experience in construction estimating or project management, including previous experience estimating low-voltage systems and use of custom estimating tools or estimating software packages.
- 1–3+ years of project management experience.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrate knowledge of cabling standards and structured cabling components.
- A valid Manitoba driver’s license with access to a vehicle
- Strong organization skills
- Ability to work alone and as part of a team
- Must be physically fit including the ability to lift heavy objects
- Ability to read and interpret blue prints/construction drawings and technical manuals
- BICSI and manufacturer certifications are an asset
- Knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Must be energetic and self-motivated.
- Knowledge of Accubid is an asset.
- Must have a clean criminal record and participate in all applicable background checks, including local and federal police screenings and other agency verifications as required.
- Willing to work evenings and weekends if required.
Pay: $30.00-$43.74 per hour
