Electrical & Controls Technician (Licensed Electrician)

What You'll Do
As our Electrical & Controls Technician, you'll be responsible for maintaining and improving the electrical systems that keep our operation running safely and efficiently.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems across our barns, residences, processing areas, and other facilities.
- Diagnosing and repairing motors, control systems, sensors, electrical panels, wiring, and automation equipment.
- Maintaining ventilation systems, tunnel ventilation, fans, environmental controls, heating systems, pumps, lighting, and automatic feeding systems.
- Troubleshooting PLCs, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), sensors, and other control equipment.
- Performing preventative maintenance to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
- Supporting new construction projects, facility expansions, and electrical upgrades.
- Working closely with farm management to identify opportunities for equipment improvements and increased efficiency.
- Ensuring all work complies with the Ontario Electrical Safety Code and company safety standards.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- Licensed Electrician (309A Construction & Maintenance Electrician preferred).
- Experience troubleshooting commercial, industrial, or agricultural electrical systems.
- Strong understanding of motors, electrical controls, automation systems, and electrical troubleshooting.
- Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in agricultural or livestock facilities.
- Experience with PLCs, VFDs, automation controls, and environmental control systems.
- Mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with ventilation systems, automated feeding systems, pumps, or conveyors.
- Spanish language skills are considered an asset.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
- Lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Climb ladders and work at heights.
- Work in confined spaces and various weather conditions.
- Stand, kneel, bend, and crouch for extended periods.
- Work safely around livestock and agricultural equipment.
