Intermediate Civil/Structural Designers are responsible for supporting engineering teams by producing detailed Civil/Structural design drawings for industrial and mining projects. This role focuses on drafting and design development, ensuring all deliverables align with project scope, applicable codes, and client requirements.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with Engineering Leads, Engineers, Project Managers, and other Designers to produce detailed structural/civil drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D
- Develop and draft drawings for structural steel and concrete, including steel frames, foundations, and support structures. Work from schematics, sketches, and verbal instructions.
- Familiar with material constructions such as concrete, steel, wood and masonry.
- Support development of industrial site layouts and infrastructure (non-municipal)
- Prepare site grading, earthworks, access roads, and drainage layouts for industrial and mining projects
- Assist in the design of shallow and deep foundations, retaining walls, and equipment foundations
- Produce detailed construction drawings, including plans, sections, and details
- Ensure drawings comply with client specifications and applicable Canadian/American codes and standards
- Coordinate designs with engineers and other disciplines (mechanical, piping, etc.)
- Perform material take-offs and support quantity estimates
- Revise drawings based on markups and project changes
- Travel for site visits as required
Additional Responsibilities
- Interpret and incorporate geotechnical and survey data into design drawings
- Assist with processing survey data, including topographic surveys and point clouds
- Assist with construction support, including responding to RFIs and reviewing field conditions
- Participate in project coordination meetings as required
- Support proposal development and project documentation
Qualifications
- Must have successfully completed either a degree or diploma at an accredited College/Department of Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology or Engineering Design and Technology
- Must be proficient and experienced with AutoCAD and Civil 3D
- Expertise in problem analysis, problem-solving and design thinking
- Effective technical communication skills, both oral and written
·Preferred Experience
- Experience working on industrial or mining projects
- Strong background in structural and draft drafting/design, particularly for steel and concrete structures
- Experience preparing drawings for foundations, slabs, equipment supports, and retaining structures
- Familiar with industrial site development and infrastructure, including site grading, earthworks, access roads, and surface drainage design (non-municipal)
- Exposure to multi-disciplinary environments, including coordination with mechanical and piping teams
- Experience in modular or skid-mounted equipment design is considered an asset
- Experience supporting construction activities, including reviewing drawings, responding to RFIs, and site visits
- Experience interpreting and working with geotechnical reports, survey data, and point clouds
Education and Experience
- Must have successfully completed either a degree or diploma at an accredited College/Department of Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology or Engineering Design and Technology
- SASTT registration/certification is an asset
- 4-9 years of experience in related fields

Pay: $72,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
