Waverley Mansion, a premier retirement residence in London, Ontario, is seeking a dedicated and proactive Part-Time Maintenance Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe, secure, and comfortable environment for our residents, staff, and visitors. You will oversee the general upkeep, physical plant operations, and preventative maintenance of our facility while ensuring strict adherence to retirement home regulations and safety standards.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Facility Upkeep: Perform and oversee general hands-on maintenance, including minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall repair, painting, and HVAC troubleshooting.
- Preventative Maintenance: Develop and execute a routine preventative maintenance schedule for all plant equipment, safety systems, and resident rooms.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure the building complies with the Retirement Homes Act, local fire codes, health and safety regulations, and public health standards. Conduct and log regular testing of fire alarms, emergency lighting, and water temperatures.
- Contractor Management: Coordinate and oversee specialized external contractors for major repairs, landscaping, snow removal, and annual system inspections.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to building emergencies and maintenance requests from residents or staff.
- Budget & Inventory: Manage maintenance supply inventories and operate within the allocated department budget.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of general maintenance experience, ideally in a retirement home, long-term care facility, hospitality, or commercial property setting.
- Technical Skills: Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude with solid knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and life safety systems.
- Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with Ontario building codes, fire codes, and Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) regulations. Experience with retirement home regulations is a major asset.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; empathy, patience, and a respectful demeanor when interacting with elderly residents are essential.
- Clearances: Ability to provide a vulnerable sector criminal record check and up-to-date immunization records (as required for retirement home environments).
- Availability: Flexible part-time hours, with the ability to be on-call for occasional after-hours facility emergencies.
