About the Role:
Fitzrovia is seeking to hire a Director, Facilities Management & Technical Services to join our team, reporting directly to the Vice President, Property Management.
This role is responsible for leading the overall facilities management strategy, operational performance, and technical services across a multi-faceted portfolio spanning Ontario, Quebec, and Vancouver, with a primary focus on residential assets supported by a mix of office and retail components.
The Director will oversee the development and execution of maintenance programs, service standards, capital planning, and operational efficiencies across the portfolio. This position requires a strategic and hands-on leader who can drive consistency, optimize performance, and ensure best-in-class building operations while partnering closely with Property Management, Capital Projects, and external stakeholders.

This posting is for an existing vacancy. The salary range for this position is $165,000 - $180,000, plus a competitive performance-based annual bonus, based on skills and experience. Oversee and drive facilities management operations across a multi-region, residential-focused portfolio.

Drive consistency in service delivery, maintenance standards, and operational processes across all properties.

Support site teams in resolving complex operational and technical issues.

Ensure buildings operate efficiently with minimal disruption to residents and tenants.
Preventative Maintenance & Technical Services

Establish, implement, and continuously improve preventative maintenance programs across all assets.

Oversee building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire & life safety, and BAS.

Ensure teams are operating building systems efficiently and in line with manufacturer and regulatory requirements.
Budgeting & Capital Planning

Lead and support in the development and oversight of annual operating budgets for facilities across the portfolio in conjunction with the Directors of Property Management.

Develop and execute 5–10 year capital plans, ensuring long-term asset preservation.

Partner with Capital Projects to plan and execute lifecycle replacements and upgrades.
Procurement, Contracts & Vendor Management

Lead tendering processes and standardization of service contracts across the portfolio.

Negotiate and manage vendor agreements, ensuring quality, cost control, and performance.

Drive continuous improvement and accountability across all third-party service providers.
Compliance, Risk & Safety

Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation across jurisdictions, including Building Code, Fire Code, Electrical Code, TSSA, CSA standards and Occupational Health & Safety requirements

Lead health & safety initiatives and ensure adherence across all sites.

Identify and mitigate operational, technical, and safety risks.
Leadership & Team Development

Lead, mentor, and develop facilities and maintenance teams across the portfolio.

Establish clear performance expectations and accountability structures.

Foster a culture of teamwork, continuous improvement, and high performance.
Stakeholder Management & Reporting

Act as the primary escalation point for facilities-related matters.

Provide regular reporting to senior leadership on operational performance, risks, and initiatives.

Collaborate cross-functionally with Property Management, Capital Projects, Asset Management, and Finance.
Qualifications & Experience:

Post-secondary education in Engineering, Facilities Management, Building Sciences, or a related field (preferred).

Designations such as RPA, FMP, or equivalent considered an asset.

5–10 years of progressive experience in facilities management, with a focus on multi-residential portfolios.

Experience managing and leading teams across multi-site portfolios across multiple regions/provinces.

Strong technical knowledge of building systems, maintenance practices, operational controls, applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements

Experience managing operating budgets, capital planning, procurement, and contracts.

Strong leadership and decision-making capabilities.

Highly organized with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.

Effective communicator with strong stakeholder management skills.

Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on when required.
Travel Requirements:

Periodical travel is required across Ontario, Quebec, and Vancouver to support operations, conduct site visits, and engage with teams.
