Job Description:
Fisher Coating specializes in staining and finishing wood products for siding, soffit, and cladding. We are looking for a careful, detail-oriented Stain Technician to join our team. This role is based in our stain shop and reports directly to the Paint Shop Manager.
You will be responsible for creating stain samples for clients, tinting and mixing stains for production, and matching colours to client specifications — all while keeping the stain shop spotless and well organized.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare stain samples on a variety of wood substrates for client approval
- Apply different stain products and colours to sample boards accurately
- Tint and mix stains to create production colours
- Match stain colours to client specifications and standards
- Keep detailed and accurate records of formulas and colour matches
- Maintain the stain shop clean, tidy, and organized at all times
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental guidelines
- Report directly to the Paint Shop Manager
- Follow operative and maintenance procedures on tint machine
What We're Looking For:
- Experience in staining, finishing, or colour mixing is an asset
- Exceptional attention to detail — colour accuracy is critical in this role
- Clean and organized work habits — this is a stain shop, tidiness is a must
- Ability to follow formulas, procedures, and specifications consistently
- Reliable, self-motivated, and takes pride in their work
- Good communication skills to work effectively with the Paint Shop Manager
