Barber-Collins is looking for a full-time day guard who is dedicated, vigilant and can respond accordingly in high pressured situations to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our client and visitors. This role requires keen observational skills, the ability to respond swiftly to incidents, and a commitment to task at hand.
The candidate must be able to commit to an assigned schedule, rotating through seven (7) to ten (10) hour shifts of days and/or weekends. The candidate must be able to reliably commute within the tricities as it may be required to work between two locations - Waterloo and Cambridge.
Having access to your own personal vehicle is a mandatory requirement for this position.

Job Summary:
- Delivering emergency/incident response, investigation, patrol, crime prevention, revenue protection, detection, deterrent and customer service to protect Client employees, customers, facilities.
- Enforcing Trespass to Property Act and Criminal Code.
- Investigating and responding to complaints and incidents on Client property.
- Conducting full investigations and assisting police services when required.
- Maintain officer presence and ensure crime prevention.
- Reporting criminal activity to Waterloo Regional Police Service and aiding if required.
- Dealing in confrontation with unruly persons.
- Carry out security duties as required.
- Carry out other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
- At least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Fluency in English.
- Valid Ontario Security Guard License.
- Graduate or current student of Police Foundations/Law and Security program or equivalent knowledge and experience.
- Completed minimum of four years of secondary education.
- Preference will be given to those with experience in a customer service and enforcement environment.
- Knowledge of the Trespass to Property Act.
- Knowledge of Criminal Code of Canada.
- Knowledge of Ontario Use of Force model.
- Knowledge of Powers of Arrest.
- Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license - must have own vehicle
- Valid First Aid/CPR Level C.
- Ability to complete and pass mandatory use of force/handcuffing/baton training. Accredited Use of Force Training is required.
- No criminal convictions for which no pardon has been received.
- Employees are subject to have police record check performed at request of Client.
