Looking to hire a qualified shop technician.
Come and work for a family-owned and operated, medium-sized trucking company based in West Edmonton with over 50 years in the trucking industry. Our fleet is comprised of 15 highway tractors and 7 tandem dump trucks. All vehicles are the same brand and are 2019 and newer. We are a licensed CVIP facility, and our shop is equipped with a 3-tonne overhead hoist, 4 post vehicle lift large enough to pickup all our equipment and fully stocked with tools, diagnostic laptops, etc. We have an established maintenance program using GPS tracking and access to real-time fault analysis. Finally, we also have a comprehensive parts inventory system.
All applicants must have good working knowledge and be able to demonstrate experience in the following areas:
- A strong mechanical aptitude with a basic understanding of on-road diesel engines
- Oil changes and maintenance
- Grease and servicing
- Commercial brakes, including the ability to change brakes, complete drum inspections, etc.
- A basic understanding of electrical systems
- A basic understanding of hydraulic systems
- A basic understanding of air suspension systems
- A basic understanding of 5th wheels and coupling systems
- A basic understanding of driveline components
We are looking for a person to come in and take over the responsibility of running our shop and vehicle service including maintenance, repairs and inventory. This person will have the opportunity to integrate with our current processes while also developing systems and practices of their own. This is an opportunity for the right person to grow in their experience and responsibilities with the company while earning a wage that reflects that growth. This comes with the backing of management who has a combined experience of over 90 years in the industry, along with phenomenal backing and support from our local dealership.
Applicants must have their own reliable mode of transportation to and from our shop, company vehicles are provided for call-outs, or on-road repairs.
Due to the technical nature of this position, applicants must have a strong understanding of the English language and be able to comprehend complex fault tree diagrams, wiring diagrams, computer-based diagnostics etc. Applicants must also be able to complete pre-established service reports, follow maintenance schedules and reply to driver’s repair requests.
Applicants must be willing and able to take after hours calls and respond to on-road repairs, in company provided fleet vehicles.
Applicants DO NOT need to be a journeyman heavy equipment mechanic or technician to apply for this position. You must only be able to demonstrate knowledge in the above-mentioned areas, have good personal responsibility and be able to follow directions.
