We specialize in the sale and delivery of topsoil, garden mix, decorative rock, sand & gravel, fill clay, sod and other various landscaping products. We are currently searching for a Field Operator.
Position Overview
As a Field Operator you will be responsible for pushing and piling topsoil in preparation for screening and loading product at our various dirt/clay fields in Spruce Grove. Experience operating and maintaining loader, track hoe, dozer, and screener is a requirement.
The position is full time seasonal; 6 days a week, 8-10 hour days, and includes Saturdays (Sundays only to make up for downtime from significant rain event). Applicants that are available to work immediately as well as live in the immediate vicinity of Spruce Grove will be highly considered.
Responsibilities:
- Operate Dozer/Loader/Track Hoe (bulk work), Screener and hand-tools, safely and efficiently
- Work well independently, with coworkers, contractors and customers under direction
- Perform inspections, maintenance and housekeeping on equipment and tools; correct minor deficiencies; report major deficiencies
- Report any issues or concerns
- Maintain a respectful workplace
- Conduct Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHA’s) to evaluate hazards on site
- Good housekeeping on site and in company vehicles/equipment is mandatory
- Self-manage following company safety rules and policies
- Use and wear proper PPE
- Report Incidents to Manager
- Work with management to correctly handle incident investigations, when necessary
- Maintain a clean and safe workplace to minimize hazards; help correct or delegate any deficiencies
- Report to management any employee noncompliance issues regarding company rules, policies and procedures
Your Experience:
- Able to self-manage responsibilities, work independently and with little direction
- Self-motivated and enjoys a fast-paced work environment
- Work under pressure
- Very organized, able to prioritize multiple tasks
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate with co-workers and take direction
- Interact and communicate with customers in a professional manner
- Available to work long hours, up to six days a week, with a strong work ethic. This position requires working seasonally, including most weekends and may include work on holidays
- Weather dependent company; work is not guaranteed on rain days
- Class 5 Drivers license and dependable transportation required
- Current First Aid Certification, Ground Disturbance Level II, and CSTS is preferable
- Minimum 3 years experience operating Loader, Dozer, Track Hoe, Screener, and hand tools.
- Mechanically minded is considered a strong asset.
