About the Position
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Real Estate Legal Assistant to join our law firm. The successful candidate will support lawyers with residential and commercial real estate transactions while providing exceptional client service and ensuring files are completed accurately and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Open, organize, and manage real estate files from intake through closing.
- Prepare legal documents for residential and commercial purchases, sales, refinances, mortgage transactions, and transfers.
- Draft correspondence and communicate with clients, financial institutions, real estate agents, and other law firms.
- Order and review title searches, tax certificates, and other required documents.
- Coordinate signing appointments and manage transaction deadlines.
- Prepare closing packages and ensure all conditions are satisfied before funding and registration.
- Assist with billing and file reporting.
- Maintain accurate electronic and physical client files.
- Perform general administrative and legal support duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum one (1) year of experience as a Legal Assistant in real estate law or a Legal Assistant or Paralegal certificate or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Knowledge of Alberta real estate procedures and documentation is considered an asset.
- Experience using Microsoft Office and legal practice management software.
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple files and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
