As a HeartCORE Coach, you will support participants in improving their overall health through individualized exercise programming, one-on-one coaching, and health education. This role combines direct participant care with administrative responsibilities to ensure the safe and effective delivery of Heart Niagara's HeartCORE program.
Responsibilities include:
- Conduct initial participant assessments, including reviewing health history, functional abilities, and personal wellness goals.
- Develop individualized exercise programs based on participant needs, abilities, and health status.
- Provide one-on-one coaching and supervision during strength and resistance training sessions, ensuring participants use MedX and other exercise equipment safely and effectively.
- Monitor participant progress, adjust exercise prescriptions as appropriate, and provide ongoing instruction, motivation, and encouragement.
- Lead group exercise classes and educational workshops focused on heart health, healthy aging, and chronic disease prevention.
- Educate participants on healthy lifestyle practices, including physical activity, nutrition, stress management, and other behaviour change strategies.
- Maintain a safe exercise environment by monitoring participants during exercise, responding appropriately to health concerns, and ensuring equipment is clean and in good working order.
- Accurately document participant assessments, exercise prescriptions, session notes, attendance, and progress in program records.
- Coordinate participant appointments, communicate with clients regarding scheduling and follow-up, and maintain confidential records.
- Assist with program administration, including data entry, outcome tracking, reporting, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Participate in community outreach, program promotion, and other organizational initiatives as required.
- Perform other duties related to the position as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Health Promotion, Nutrition, Exercise Science)
- Proven experience as a health coach or in a similar role
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to build rapport and establish trust with clients
- Knowledge of behavior change theories and techniques
- Proficient in data collection and analysis
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
