The Essa & District Agricultural Society (EDAS) is looking for an organized, dependable, and enthusiastic Administrative Assistant to support the day-to-day operations of the Essa Agriplex. From agricultural events and educational programming to community rentals and the annual Barrie Fair, the Agriplex is a busy facility that serves residents throughout the region. We're looking for someone who takes pride in staying organized, enjoys helping people, and can confidently manage a variety of administrative tasks.
What You'll Do
As the Administrative Assistant, you'll provide essential support to the Operations Manager while helping ensure the office runs efficiently. Your responsibilities will include administrative duties, customer service, communications, event support, and assisting with special projects throughout the year.
Typical responsibilities include:
- Managing multiple organizational email accounts and responding to inquiries.
- Greeting visitors and answering telephone calls in a professional, welcoming manner.
- Updating website content and assisting with social media communications.
- Processing payments and maintaining financial records using QuickBooks Online.
- Coordinating administrative tasks for seasonal storage programs.
- Maintaining membership records and assisting with member communications.
- Creating posters, flyers, signage, and other promotional materials using Canva or Google Slides.
- Assisting with online event registrations, exhibitor entries, and committee support.
- Providing administrative assistance to committees and the Board of Directors as needed.
- Completing additional office projects and operational tasks assigned by the Operations Manager.
Work Schedule
April 1 – October 31 (Peak Season)
- Monday to Friday
- 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- In-office
November 1 – March 31 (Winter Season)
- Tuesday and Thursday
- 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Option to work in-office or remotely
A 30-minute unpaid lunch break applies to shifts longer than five hours.
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting wage of $22.00 per hour
- Annual wage review
- Two weeks paid vacation (scheduled outside of Barrie Fair operations)

- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- A positive attitude and excellent customer service skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
- Confidence working independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong computer skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with the following is considered an asset:
- Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive)
- QuickBooks Online or similar accounting software
- Administrative experience
- Non-profit organizations
- Graphic design platforms such as Canva
- Website updates and social media management
