This Administrative Support III position will be working under the general supervision and guidance of the Public Health Area and Care Manager to perform a variety of clerical and office duties to support the needs of Public Health at the Airdrie Community Health Centre (supports the postpartum program, well child vaccination services and school vaccination program). Must be able to communicate effectively with the public/clients, health care staff, physicians, nurses and other external providers. This position schedules, books and confirms appointments for clients and is responsible for the data entry functions and the public health records management system in the Health Centre. The employee shall maintain confidentiality of the Alberta Health Services information in accordance with the Health Information Act, Freedom of Information and Privacy and other privacy legislation in effect and shall comply at all times with Alberta Health Services Information and Privacy Information and Security policies.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Grade 12 or equivalent required. Experience with Connect Care - Office administration and/or Unit Clerk training. Computer skills including the use of the Internet, Windows, Excel, Outlook, TEAMS - Accurate and proficient keyboarding skills (50-60 wpm). Demonstrated ability to work with fixed deadlines and cope with frequent interruptions. Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and make independent decisions regarding data entry with minimal supervision. Ability to adhere to the rules regarding data entry protocol, patient confidentiality and record management. Detail oriented and ability to work toward being self-directed in work-load management as well as work well in a team environment. Excellent knowledge of the English language, both written and oral. Ability to deal effectively with people in potentially confrontational circumstances. Ability to communicate effectively with clients of varying ages, socioeconomic status and ethnic backgrounds. Maintains a professional image and demonstrated ability to remain calm, courteous, sensitive, tactful and respectful.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two to three years related experience in public health office. Related business and computer courses/Connect Care preferred. Please note this position is located outside of Calgary city limits (12 km north of Calgary).
