Overview
The Student Recreational Facility Assistant supports daily operations of the recreation facility and assist with coordination and delivery of recreational programs and events. This role combines facility maintenance, customer service, administrative duties, and program leadership, including organizing and supervising activities. The ideal candidate must be a post-secondary student who is organized, dependable, energetic, and enjoys working in a fast-paced community environment with children, youth, families, and user groups.
Duties
- Assist with daily arena and recreational facility operations
- Perform light maintenance and janitorial duties including cleaning lobby areas, the gym and common spaces.
- Help prepare facilities for events, practices, games and community activities.
- Monitor facility cleanliness, safety, and organization
- Open and close the facility
- Report maintenance concerns or safety hazards to supervisors
- Assist with social media updates
- Answer phones, emails and general public inquires
- Assist with gym memberships
- Light office duties
Experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Organized, responsible, and reliable
- Comfortable working with the public
- Basic computer and administrative skills
- Interest in sports, recreation and community programming is considered an asset
- Ability to perform light physical work and lift equipment as needed

- Evening and weekend shifts may be required for special events

Pay: $17.00-$20.00 per hour
