Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Nursery Labourer to join our team and support the daily operations of our plant nursery. This role involves hands-on work in plant care, maintenance, and general nursery tasks. The ideal candidate will have a passion for gardening and horticulture, along with the physical ability to perform heavy lifting and operate various tools. This position offers an opportunity to gain practical experience in horticulture and contribute to the growth of healthy plants in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist with planting and pruning of nursery trees
- Budding Trees
- Use hand tools and mechanical equipment for planting, digging, and maintenance tasks
- Perform heavy lifting of plants, soil, and materials as needed
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the nursery area
- Clean the crops
- Clear and collect brush and debris from fields and other work areas
- Follow safety protocols during all nursery activities to prevent accidents or injuries
- Piece work
- Tie and secure plants
- Dig trees
- Staking
Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of horticulture or gardening principles is preferred but not required; training will be provided
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks throughout the day
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Basic math skills for measuring soil, fertilizer, or plant spacing requirements
- Prior experience working in a nursery, garden center, or related environment is advantageous but not mandatory
