Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Personal Support Worker (PSW) to provide essential care and assistance to a senior individual in need of support. This role involves working closely with a client in a private home. The ideal candidate will have a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for others through attentive caregiving and support. Prior experience in senior care, home care, or working with individuals with disabilities is highly valued. Duties
- Assist client with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using a sit-to-stand lift and wheelchair
- Administer medications as directed by healthcare professionals, ensuring safety and compliance
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and preferences
- Provide companionship and emotional support to promote mental well-being
- Assist with light housekeeping tasks including cleaning and maintaining a safe environment
- Support client with mobility and transfers, ensuring safety at all times
- Monitor health status and report any concerns or changes to supervising healthcare staff and family
- Follow care plans accurately and document care provided as required
- Support client with activities that promote independence and enhance quality of life
Skills
- Previous experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or home care environments is preferred
- Strong caregiving skills with a compassionate approach toward seniors and individuals with disabilities
- Knowledge of dementia care techniques and managing behaviors associated with dementia or cognitive decline
- Ability to administer medications safely following prescribed instructions
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with client, family, and healthcare teams
- Ability to perform light cleaning duties to maintain a hygienic environment
- Flexibility to work various shifts including days, evenings, or weekends as needed
- Physical stamina for lifting, transferring, and supporting client safely
- Experience working with individuals with special needs or disabilities is a plus
