EFry Hope and Help provides trauma-informed, inclusive and gender-responsive programs and services to support women and girls at risk or involved in the legal system in building stable lives.
We are recruiting two (2) Full-time Community Support Caseworkers, SupportHER Program. The SupportHER Program provides 24/7 crisis response and continuum of care to exploited and sex trafficked girls between the ages of 12-24, from the crisis stage to the stabilization stage with flexible operating hours. The caseworker provides a strong mentoring relationship and encourages safe and healthy decision making, nurtures independence and skill development, and provides connections and referrals to community resources required for successful reintegration. The caseworker works directly with female youth within the Peel and Halton Regions.
Reporting to the Program Supervisor, the successful incumbent should be able to travel within Central and Toronto Region to provide one-on-one client support, case management and counselling.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develops and implements personalized plans and intervention programs to assist clients in determining goals and the means of attaining them. Plans, prepares and conducts individual or group skill training sessions with clients, and develops and implements a plan for each person. Provides each with one-to-one support.
2. Evaluates the effectiveness of the interventions and skill-building approaches and each client’s progress modifies as needed. Resolves identified problems and moves towards defined objectives. Follows up on results of intervention and strategies and clients’ adjustment in the community or progression to independence.
3. Acts as an advocate for the client provides support for them while clients wherever they are in their progress towards community stability and wellbeing, as appropriate, provides follow up support to them when they transition between housing placements/types of programs, or exiting program involvement. May accompany the client to appointments.
4. Maintains accurate reports and records on clients and provides monthly reports to the Program Coordinator. Ensure that all required documentation is complete. Reports and discusses case planning and concerns to other professionals involved with client as needed.
5. Participates in evaluating the effectiveness of rehabilitation and training approaches used in the program. Provides suggestions for improvement to the Program Supervisor.
6. Maintains a thorough knowledge of community resources to meet clients’ needs. Provides liaison, education and advocacy to other professionals, other agencies and the community.
7. Keeps abreast of trends, community resources and developments in the profession by participating in workshops, conferences, and continued professional development.
8. Performs other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
· A degree and/or diploma in a related field with experience working with vulnerable populations; prior experience working with youth females is considered an asset.
· Ability to maintain and encourage confident assessment, counselling and program facilitation skills in order to engage, support, and interact with clients using a trauma-informed approach.
· Practical knowledge and experience facilitating gender specific and responsive programming.
· Thorough understanding of issues pertaining to youth and broad knowledge of community resources.
· Thorough understanding of client-focused counselling skills and role modelling approaches.
MANDATORY JOB REQUIREMENTS:
· Satisfactory Criminal Record Review (Vulnerable Sector Check)
· Standard First Aid / CPR certification
· Evidence of a Tuberculosis Test in compliance with the TB Control Program
· Ability to lift 30 pounds
· Doctors note of fitness to perform the duties of the job
· Valid Ontario driver’s license, with satisfactory driving record (Preferred)
