Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Excavation Contractor to join our team for residential and light commercial projects. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in basement excavation, foundation digging, grading, and site preparation. You will be responsible for operating heavy equipment safely and efficiently while ensuring accurate excavation work that meets project specifications and safety standards.
This role requires prior experience in excavation work, particularly basement digs, foundation preparation, and related earthworks.
Duties
- Perform excavation work for residential basements, foundations, and site preparation
- Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, skid steers, and backhoes
- Read and interpret site plans, blueprints, and grading stakes
- Ensure proper depth, alignment, and leveling of excavation sites
- Conduct trenching, backfilling, and grading as required
- Identify underground utilities and follow all safety protocols
- Maintain equipment in good working condition and report issues promptly
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and site supervisors
- Ensure job sites are kept clean, safe, and compliant with regulations
- Complete projects within scheduled timelines
Requirements
- Proven experience in excavation work (minimum 2–5 years preferred)
- Strong experience in basement excavation and foundation digging is required
- Ability to operate excavation equipment safely and confidently
- Knowledge of construction site safety practices and regulations
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings and site plans
- Physically fit and able to work in outdoor conditions
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Valid driver’s license (required; class license an asset)
- Safety certifications (e.g., WHMIS, First Aid, Ground Disturbance) are an asset

Pay: $32.00-$36.00 per hour
