Our client, a civil contractor in the Greater Vancouver Area, specializes in underground wet utilities (water, sanitary, storm), deep excavations, and complex urban work. They are seeking a Site Superintendent to lead field delivery on municipal and private utility projects across the Lower Mainland.
- Supervise day-to-day field operations for underground wet utility installations, including watermains, force mains, gravity sewers, storm systems, manholes, chambers, and services.
- Plan work areas, traffic management, and sequencing for tight urban sites, live tie-ins, night work, and shutdowns.
- Coordinate crews, subcontractors, equipment, materials, trucking, and inspections to meet schedule and budget targets.
- Oversee trenching, shoring, dewatering, bypass pumping, compaction, backfill, and road restoration to MMCD and municipal specs.
- Implement safety, environmental, and quality procedures, including FLHAs, toolbox talks, utility locates, and erosion and sediment control.
- Work with Project Managers on look-ahead schedules, change events, RFIs, and quantity tracking.
- Maintain daily reports, as-builts, redlines, and test records for pressure tests, CCTV, mandrel, air/vac and density tests.
- Liaise with inspectors, engineers, and owners to resolve conflicts and keep work moving.
- Lead pre-construction planning, site mobilization, and close-out, including deficiency completion and turnover packages.
- 5+ years as a Site Superintendent or Lead Foreperson on underground wet utility projects.
- Strong knowledge of MMCD, municipal standards, and CoV/Surrey/Coquitlam permitting and inspection processes.
- Proven experience with deep services, live tie-ins, traffic control in urban corridors, and coordinating multiple crews.
- Skilled in reading civil drawings, profiles, and shop drawings, and producing accurate as-builts.
- Solid safety leadership and incident-free track record; confined space and trenching best practices.
- Effective communicator who builds productive relationships with owners, consultants, and inspectors.
- Valid BC driver’s license; available for night work or weekends as required by shutdowns.
- Schooling is not required; proven wet utilities field leadership is essential.
