The ideal candidate will be based in the Lower Mainland and available for full-time work. They will have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to project sites and company shop locations throughout the Lower Mainland, with work primarily based in Vancouver, North Vancouver, Burnaby and Richmond.
What you will do
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems in residential and commercial buildings.
- Read and interpret blueprints, electrical drawings, specifications, and circuit diagrams.
- Install and terminate wiring, conduit, panels, lighting, receptacles, switches, and electrical equipment.
- Perform electrical work on new construction, renovations, tenant improvements, and service upgrades.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical issues using appropriate testing equipment.
- Conduct inspections, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Ensure all work complies with applicable electrical codes, safety regulations, and company standards.
- Follow safe work practices, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Coordinate work with project managers, site supervisors, customers, inspectors, subcontractors, and other trades.
- Mentor and support apprentices by providing technical guidance and on-the-job training (asset).
- Complete service reports, inspection records, timesheets, and other required documentation.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including care of tools and equipment.
- Identify material requirements and support job planning and coordination.
- Deliver high-quality workmanship while meeting project schedules and customer expectations.
- Respond to service calls and emergency repairs as required.
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Journeyperson Electrician in residential and/or commercial settings.
- Strong experience in residential electrical work, with commercial experience considered an asset.
- Proven experience with new construction, renovations, tenant improvements, service work, and system upgrades.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, test, and repair electrical systems efficiently and safely.
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, electrical drawings, and technical specifications.
- Experience working with and coordinating multiple stakeholders, including contractors, inspectors, and other trades.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet project deadlines.
Qualifications
- Certified Journeyperson Electrician (required).
- Valid provincial license (where applicable).
- Red Seal Endorsement considered an asset
- Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and applicable provincial regulations.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety practices, including LOTO procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Physically able to perform the duties of the role, including lifting up to 50 lbs and working at heights.
