At Solid Rock Outdoor Exploration, our motto is "Adventure with Purpose." We are a faith-based outdoor school dedicated to cultivating the next generation of wilderness explorers, resilient leaders in faith. Our programs support homeschool families by offering integrated learning, wilderness skills, and a Christ-centered community. We believe in taking education outside, weaving Earth Science and Art into every trail lesson to ensure children stay curious and connected to the living earth.
The Role: We are seeking a passionate and energetic Outdoor Instructor to lead our weekly outdoor sessions. If you love the wilderness, have a heart for children, and want to use the outdoors to build resilience and character, this is the role for you. Because we are a faith-based company, this position requires someone who can serve as a strong Christian role model, demonstrating Christ-like leadership and values to the young children in our care.
Schedule & Locations:
- Abbotsford: Wednesdays, 8:45 AM – 1:15 PM
- Langley: Mondays, 8:45 AM – 1:15 PM
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise groups of children in 4hour outdoor sessions, rain or shine.
- Facilitate hands-on learning in Nature Study, observing the details of creation to foster a deep sense of wonder and stewardship.
- Teach foundational Wilderness Skills, including practical navigation and outdoor safety, to build confidence and grit.
- Guide Character Building activities, encouraging honesty, collaborative problem-solving, and Christ-like leadership during forest challenges.
- Maintain a highly safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment for all students.
- Model Christian values and faith authentically in everyday interactions with students and parents.
Requirements:
- Faith & Character: Must be an active Christian who is comfortable and confident acting as a role model for young children.
- Passion for the Outdoors: A genuine love for nature, wilderness exploration, and being outside in various weather conditions.
- Experience with Children: Proven experience working with children (e.g., coaching, teaching, youth group leading, camp counseling, or outdoor education).
- Reliability: Punctual and committed to the scheduled program hours.
- Safety Mindset: Ability to manage risk in an outdoor setting (First Aid/CPR certification is a strong asset or required upon hire).
