Primary Focus
In conjunction with the rest of the Maintenance Department Team, the Maintenance Mechanic lead hand role is crucial for ensuring the Company’s equipment runs properly without causing any downtime during production hours.
Accountabilities / Direct
- Responsible for troubleshooting, fixing mechanical problems and setting up of equipment in an efficient manner.
- Performs major and minor adjustments to equipment in a reasonable timeframe.
- Performs predictive and preventative maintenance on all plant equipment in a safe manner and also ensures equipment and machines are clean and in good working order while following strict GMP guidelines.
- Completion and submission of appropriate paperwork and work orders in full and on time.
- Performs equipment / system improvements as well as researches and tests new equipment.
- Supports maintenance leader on all project based work.
- Report all incidents, accidents and near misses by filling out proper reports relating to all employees, contractors, visitors and Company property.
- Works in compliance with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and all other relevant governmental legislation
- Complete all other duties as instructed and assigned by Manager.
Required Skills / Experience & Abilities
- A minimum of 3 years working experience with mechanical, electrical (optional); including set-up, adjustments and troubleshooting
- A good understanding of the mechanical and electrical components of equipment used in the plant and packaging departments (i.e. conveyor belts, vacuum pack machines, motors and gear boxes etc.)
- Knowledge of shop tools (i.e. grinders, welding etc.).
- Flexible availability to accommodate production needs.
- Able to efficiently make decisions and resolve problems
- Must be highly organized and flexible to changing priorities
- Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team.
- Excellent work safety record on the technical side
