About the Role
This is a key execution role focused on management and expansion of CarDoor’s dealer network. You have a dual mandate to nurture dealer relationships and to drive usage of CarDoor’s wholesale auction platform. You have direct accountability to build out the dealer network in line with agreed growth goals set by executive management.
You will identify, approach, qualify and on-board new dealers. You will enable dealer success by training dealers, monitoring platform usage, improving participation and holding structured performance reviews on a periodic basis.
You understand how dealerships operate. You know how to introduce technology without disrupting the dealer’s day and are thoughtful about interpreting and acting on performance data. You are organized, analytical and capable of building a scalable dealer success process. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role suited for automotive professionals who thrive in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Dealer Development
- Represent CarDoor’s value proposition and operating model to prospective new dealers
- Develop and acquire new accounts for CarDoor’s dealer network and guide them through CarDoor’s on-boarding process
- Build and maintain credibility with designated dealership buyers
- Introduce newly on-boarded dealers and buyers to the CarDoor vehicle acquisition team
- Develop a repeatable dealer development process that that can be scaled cost-effectively
- Develop productive dealers who regularly review vehicles, submit credible offers and complete transactions
Dealer Success
- Maintain and strengthen dealer relationships through every step of the CarDoor dealer experience
- Guide dealers through the CarDoor dealer on-boarding process and provide required training and support as appropriate
- Monitor key dealer metrics related to CarDoor platform utilization
- Regularly review dealer performance metrics and evaluate relative to agreed Key Performance Indicators
- Develop repeatable processes and templates for monthly or periodic dealer reporting and performance management
- Develop loyalty programs or other incentive systems to motivate dealers to increase their use of CarDoor’s platform and to maximize dealer retention
- Prioritize and manage a high volume of daily or monthly dealer interactions
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Coordinate activities with CarDoor’s vehicle acquisition and dealer sales teams
- Collaborate as needed to drive inventory visibility, dealer offers and wholesale administrative processes
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of automotive dealer-facing experience which may include:
o Head Office or Business Development roles within a large dealer group
o Dealer support roles at an automotive auction or remarketing company
o Account management roles at an automotive software or dealer services company
- Analytical discipline, strong technology orientation and account management mindset
- Understanding of how dealers make money, how used-car managers buy inventory and why specific dealers participate in one wholesale vehicle sourcing channel over another
- Excellent verbal communication skills with a professional, composed demeanor
- Strong trainer and presenter
- Comfortable challenging an inactive dealer or handling objections in difficult conversations
- Proficiency with Customer Management platforms, analytics tools and on-line platforms (e.g. LinkedIn)
- Comfortable managing a pipeline and staying organized while managing a diverse portfolio
