Position Title: Residential Mortgage Agent

Tjara is seeking a driven, client-focused, and experienced Residential Mortgage Agent to join our growing mortgage team. This role is ideal for professionals who are passionate about helping clients achieve their homeownership goals while delivering exceptional customer service and expert mortgage advice.
A valid Residential Mortgage Agent License is mandatory for this position. Candidates without an active mortgage license will not be considered.
The successful candidate will be responsible for generating new business, advising clients on mortgage options, managing mortgage applications from start to finish, and maintaining strong relationships with lenders, real estate professionals, and referral partners.
Key Responsibilities
Client Consultation & Mortgage Planning
- Meet with prospective and existing clients to assess their financial needs and homeownership goals.
- Analyze clients’ income, assets, liabilities, credit history, and financial circumstances.
- Provide professional mortgage advice tailored to each client's needs.
- Explain mortgage products, rates, terms, conditions, and repayment options.
- Educate clients on the home-buying and refinancing process.
Mortgage Origination & Processing
- Source and originate residential mortgage business.
- Collect and review all required documentation, including income verification, bank statements, employment letters, and credit reports.
- Prepare complete mortgage applications and submit them to lenders.
- Monitor applications throughout the approval process.
- Work closely with underwriters, lenders, lawyers, appraisers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely closings.
- Resolve issues that may arise during the mortgage approval process.
Business Development
- Build and maintain relationships with real estate agents, builders, financial advisors, accountants, and referral partners.
- Develop and implement strategies to generate new mortgage leads.
- Attend networking events, community activities, and industry functions.
- Maintain a strong pipeline of prospective clients.
- Follow up on referrals and leads in a timely and professional manner.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure all mortgage transactions comply with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Maintain accurate client records and documentation.
- Adhere to company policies, licensing regulations, and ethical standards.
- Stay current with mortgage industry changes, lender guidelines, and government regulations.
Customer Service
- Provide exceptional service throughout the mortgage process.
- Maintain regular communication with clients regarding application status.
- Build long-term client relationships to encourage repeat business and referrals.
- Address client concerns professionally and promptly.
Mandatory Qualifications
Licensing Requirement (Mandatory)
- Active and valid Residential Mortgage Agent License is required.
- Applicants must provide proof of licensing upon request.
- Candidates without a valid mortgage license will not be considered for this position.
Experience
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in mortgage brokering, mortgage sales, banking, lending, or financial services preferred.
- Experience handling residential mortgage transactions is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to meet or exceed sales targets.
Education
- Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Real Estate, or a related field is considered an asset.

- Knowledge of government housing and mortgage programs.
- Bilingual or multilingual communication skills are an asset.
