Am Shalom Congregation is looking for dynamic, passionate, and experienced Hebrew and Jewish-studies teachers
About Our School:
Our Heritage School strives to present our students with the opportunity to participate and develop a personal relationship to Reform Judaism beyond the classroom. By focusing on studies on the Hebrew language, and on the Jewish values of learning, praying and doing Acts of Lovingkindness (Torah, Avodah & G’milut Chassadim), our students receive a well rounded education in Reform Judaism that will serve as a strong foundation for a life of active engagement and participation in the Jewish community well beyond their B-Mitzvah and graduation.
To keep students focused and involved, teaching methodologies can include classroom discussions and study, individual and group learning experiences, experiential learning through singing, Jewish Cooking, craft making, and “Ask the Rabbi” sessions that include questions and discussions.
Our goal is for our students to develop an understanding of Reform Jewish traditions, and of the level of Hebrew necessary for
● rich, meaningful, and intellectual Jewish living
● developing an interest and desire to participate in local, national and world Jewish affairs
● taking leadership positions in Jewish life
● contributing toward the fulfillment of a just society and unity among all humankind.
Our students will also gain knowledge, understanding and appreciation of Jewish worship and prayer as well as develop knowledge of and a bond with ancient and modern Israel.
Our teachers report to the Heritage School Principal.
In addition to preparing and executing weekly lessons, our teachers are also responsible for taking attendance, ensuring students safety, advising the principal of behavioral or any other issues in a timely manner.
