The Opportunity
LVC is looking to add to our growing team. We are in search of Electrical Designers to assist with expanding our business as we provide industry leading solutions to our customers.
The Electrical Design team participates in the full project life cycle and are involved with project management from planning to commissioning. In addition, the Electrical Design team will regularly communicate with customers, and coordinate with general contractors.
Duties:
- Design electrical distribution and control systems according to customer specifications, including preparation of the electrical schematics and panel layouts using AutoCAD.
- Provide project management, cost tracking, and scheduling for various technical projects.
- Assume a broad scope of post-sale responsibilities including design approval, documentation accuracy and quality assurance, and on-time delivery of final product.
- Provide support to internal departments such as Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing and Technical Support.
- Assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of engineering and drawing standards.
Education and Training:
- University degree in Electrical Engineering or Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) Designation would be considered an asset.
- Project Management or Business Management would be considered an asset.
- Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) Designation would be considered an asset.
Experience:
A successful candidate’s experience could range from newly graduated Electrical Engineering Technologist to an experienced electrical engineer with 5+ years of experience. Ideally candidates would be experienced with electrical distribution, control systems and switch gear design and knowledge related to Arc Flash and Coordination Studies would be considered an asset. An appreciation and interest for mechanical systems, positive attitude, thirst for knowledge and client-based values would make the best fit with the LV team.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Knowledge of project management techniques.
- Knowledge of CSA standards and the Canadian Electrical Code.
- Knowledge of CAD software packages, particularly AutoCAD Electrical.
- Knowledge of electrical distribution and control systems.
- Knowledge of computer systems, data communication systems and software, including Microsoft Office.
- Good interpersonal and team building skills.
- Ability to lead project teams, manage multiple projects, balance priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent oral and written communication.
