Roasting Apprentice

Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, the Roasting Apprentice is responsible for maintaining all roast profiles and quality standards, and ensuring daily roast associated tasks are completed.
Primary Responsibilities
- Operate varying sized roast machines via Cropster Intelligence, with the primary machine being a K&M Retro G45 Probat
- Provide assistance to the Head Coffee Roaster with coffee roasting and general coffee production
- Complete daily, weekly and monthly inventory counts of raw materials (green coffee beans) and other essential items for the coffee team
- Record all necessary production details in roasting and inventory software (batch size, weight loss, QC details)
- Perform daily opening and closing cleaning tasks in the roasting area
- Receive new coffee orders and perform green coffee inventory
- Follow blend and single origin requirements correctly
- Support with coffee packaging when necessary
- Support with pick, pack and shipping when necessary
- Other duties as assigned

- Passionate and dedicated to specialty coffee with a genuine interest in building a career in the industry
- Strong attention to detail and ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively to achieve results
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn to troubleshoot roasting equipment
- Excellent organizational skills with a clear ability to prioritize and work efficiently
- Ability to lift 70 lb bags of coffee to hip/waist level
- Roasting experience is an asset

Pay: $15.00-$18.00 per hour
