As we continue to expand, we’re looking for a motivated Senior Accountant - Manager to join our leadership team and play a key role in shaping the future of our firm.
Position Summary:
As our Senior Accountant - Manager, you will lead a team of skilled accounting technicians and play an integral role in operational decision-making. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines technical accounting expertise with team management and strategic input. You will work closely with partners and clients to ensure high-quality service delivery and contribute to the continuous improvement of our practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of accounting technicians.
- Oversee the preparation of financial statements, corporate tax returns, and other deliverables for a variety of clients.
- Review work for accuracy, compliance, and adherence to firm standards.
- Collaborate with partners in key operational and strategic decisions.
- Maintain and build strong client relationships through proactive communication and support.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and help implement best practices.
- Assist in staff training, performance reviews, and professional development initiatives.
Qualifications:
- CPA designation required.
- 5+ years of experience in a public practice environment, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong understanding of Canadian accounting for private enterprises (ASPE) and review engagements (no audits).
- Strong understanding of Canadian tax returns (personal, corporate, trusts)
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- A collaborative mindset with the ability to balance client service and team development.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., CaseWare, TaxCycle, QuickBooks, Xero) is an asset.
