We are currently seeking an HR Generalist and Payroll Administrator, who also brings hands-on experience inemployee relations and recruitment. This is a key role within our People & Culture team, helping to build and support an inclusive, engaged, and high-performing workforce across both our corporate and store locations. This role report to the Head of Human Resources.
What You’ll Do:
Payroll (Primary Focus)
- Process full-cycle payroll for hourly and salaried employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Maintain payroll data including earnings, deductions, benefits, and employee changes
- Prepare and reconcile payroll reports, remittances, and year-end filings (e.g., T4s, ROEs)
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial payroll legislation and company policies
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries
- Maintain payroll records with strict confidentiality and accuracy
- Support payroll audits and reporting requirements
HR Generalist Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day HR operations across the employee lifecycle (hiring, onboarding, employee changes, offboarding)
- Provide guidance to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and best practices
- Assist with employee relations matters, including coaching and documentation
- Support performance management processes and employee development initiatives
- Administer benefits programs and employee records
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation and internal policies
- Maintain accurate HRIS data and reporting
Employee Relations
- Act as the first point of contact for HR-related inquiries across multiple sites
- Support onboarding, offboarding, and employee lifecycle transactions
- Support HR projects in areas like engagement, training, policy development, and compliance
- Conduct thorough and objective workplace investigations (e.g., harassment, conduct, policy violations)
- Provide guidance to managers on progressive discipline, attendance management, and performance issues
- Support conflict resolution between team members and/or leadership through coaching and mediation strategies
- Prepare documentation related to investigations, corrective actions, and outcomes in alignment with company policies and legislative requirements
- Track trends in employee relations issues and provide recommendations for proactive improvements
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Supportrecruitment activities for store and corporate roles: posting, screening, interviewing, coordinating offers
- Ensure a smooth and welcoming onboarding experience for new hires, including preparing documentation and facilitating orientation
- Maintain relationships with hiring managers to understand workforce needs and improve hiring processes
HR Administration & Support
- Maintain and update employee records, databases, and confidential documents
- Track HR data, run reports, and support analytics initiatives
- Draft employment-related documents and coordinate employee trainings
- Manage employee milestone tracking and updates
- Administer employee absences and communicate with employees regarding leave status, return-to-work procedures, and required documentation
- Stay up to date with HR and Employment Standards legislation
- Communicate and enforce company policies while fostering positive employee relations
- Process Workplace Injury Reports and follow up on claims as needed
- Support joint health & safety tasks, special HR projects, and internal/external company events
- Other tasks as assigned
Education
- Post secondary education in Human Resources.
- Certified Human Resources Professional preferred or working towards the designation is an asset.
Experience
- A minimum of 3+ years progressive Human Resources experience preferably within a multi-location service-driven enterprise.
- Dayforce experience is a must.
- Ability to drive results as an individual contributor while staying focused on overall HR team goals and success.
- Exceptional judgment and ability to solve problems independently.
- Ability to learn/adapt/be resilient in a high growth business environment.
- Knowledge of employment standards in various provinces and human rights legislation.
- Strong computer skills working with MS Office programs and HR systems.
- Exhibit a high level of professionalism and excellent interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, organized, and perform in a deadline-oriented environment
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Pay: $55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
