Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced 3rd or 4th year Joinery Apprentice specializing in Architectural Millwork to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in custom woodworking, cabinetry, and architectural millwork projects, with the ability to interpret detailed schematics and blueprints. This role involves working on high-quality millwork installations for commercial and residential projects, ensuring precision, craftsmanship, and adherence to safety standards. Candidates should possess a comprehensive understanding of various construction and woodworking techniques, along with the ability to work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately produce architectural millwork components.
- Cut, assemble, and install custom cabinetry, moldings, paneling, and other woodwork elements using hand tools and power tools.
- Handle CNC machinery for precise cutting and shaping of wood materials.
- Assist with restoration projects and reinstallation of existing millwork or cabinetry.
- Measure spaces accurately for custom fitment; perform heavy lifting safely to transport materials.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and project specifications; maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Collaborate with shop foreman, leadership and team to ensure quality standards are met within deadlines.
Requirements
- Proven experience in architectural millwork; prior experience with cabinetry installation is highly desirable.
- Ability to create shop drawings with Mozaik software a bonus
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, construction drawings, and CNC programs.
- Proficiency with tools and power tools.
- Experience with restoration projects and handyman tasks is a plus.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and work at heights; comfortable working on ladders or scaffolding.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent craftsmanship skills.
- Installation experience is advantageous.
- Valid driver’s license preferred; reliable transportation required.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Drafting experience is an asset.
- BCIT Foundations and joinery program or equivalent training
