The Housekeeper will regularly demonstrate initiative and proactively undertakes the following key responsibilities:
Housekeeping
- Cleans and disinfects surfaces, appliances, walls and windows in shelter including bathrooms, entrances, and staff, resident and common areas according to housekeeping schedules and checklists.
- Vacuums and mops floors in all areas of the house.
- Restocks supplies, manages inventories, tidies and helps maintain organization of storage areas.
- Responsible for house laundry.
- Collects and disposes of garbage, including hazardous materials.
- Cleans business office as assigned.
- Performs emergency housekeeping when accidents occur.
Health and Safety
- Maintain the safety and security of the house, clients, and property, reporting and recording hazards according to Agency procedures.
- Follows safe work procedures.
- Identifies, addresses, and reports health and safety matters in accordance with Agency and legislative requirements.
Other Duties
- Reads and responds to email, responsible to maintain up to date knowledge on WIN House policies, and procedures.
- Participates in training and ongoing learning.
- Communicates effectively and participates as a member of the team in shelter to support low barrier, client centered care.
Who You Are
Qualifications & Experience includes:
- Ability to interpret and communicate basic health and safety information as it relates to duties and responsibilities with a WHMIS Certification.
- Basic experience with housekeeping in a commercial/industrial environment.
- Basic MS Office experience.
- Prioritization, communication, solution-focused problem solving and the ability to consistently demonstrate required knowledge in the day-to-day performance of duties.
- Maintain and model appropriate boundaries with clients, children, and staff.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand and walk for most of the day.
- Have the ability to climb stairs, kneel, bend, reach, and stoop.
- Have the ability to push, pull, lift cleaning equipment & supplies.

The Details
This position is available with an immediate start date. It falls within the scope of the collective agreement with CUPE Local 3341. Hours of work per shift may vary and are not guaranteed. Location of work shift will vary. The starting hourly wage is $23.40 as per conditions outlined in the Collective Agreement.
Prerequisites
The successful candidate will be required to submit a Criminal Record Check including a vulnerable sector check, a current Child Welfare check, WHIMIS Certification, hold a current Standard First Aid with CPR Certificate, and must be willing to sign an Oath of Confidentiality.
