As a Tow Truck Operator for Autobahn Towing & Recovery, you will play a vital role in safely transporting vehicles. This position is ideal for experienced drivers who take pride in delivering professional service while handling a range of towing tasks—from standard recoveries to high‑value and specialty vehicles. This role is based in the west part of the GTA.
Compensation:
Annual salary $75,000
Based on 40 – 50 hours/week (Monday – Friday/daytime only)
Paid statutory holidays, vacation, personal, and sick time
Initial Review Period — Driver begins with a three‑month initial review period to confirm the role is a great fit for both you and the company.
Requirements:
· Must hold a valid Ontario tow truck operators’ certificate
· DZ or higher driver’s license (will consider applicant with G willing to upgrade to DZ)
· Clean driver’s abstract
· Clean criminal background check
· Minimum 3 years of flatbed towing experience
· Must be proficient in English
· Must have proficiency in operating digital devices (phones, tablets, GPS)
· Ability to communicate calmly and professionally with distressed motorists.
· Ability to maintain a calm, solution‑focused mindset when situations become stressful.
Responsibilities:
· Vehicle Towing Operations — Safely operate flatbeds, wheel‑lifts, and specialty tow equipment to transport disabled and/or damaged vehicles and other types of equipment.
· Specialized Vehicle Handling — Manage the loading, securing, and transport of high‑value, luxury, electric, or specialty vehicles using proper procedures and equipment (specialized training will be provided).
· Customer Interaction — Deliver professional, empathetic service to customers, clearly explaining procedures and ensuring customer safety and comfort.
· Vehicle Securing & Transport Safety — Inspect tie‑downs, chains, winches, and equipment to ensure vehicles are properly secured before transport.
· Documentation & Reporting — Complete invoices, condition reports, digital photos, and/or electronic logs accurately.
· Equipment Maintenance — Perform daily pre and post trip inspections on trucks.
· Compliance & Safety Standards — Follow provincial regulations, company policies, and industry safety standards, including load limits, PPE use, and traffic‑side safety.
· Personal safety — At all times, consistently follow proper procedures and use towing equipment with care and attention.
Additional information:
· On occasion, you will be required to work independently, receive customer calls and manage them effectively on your own.
· Work vehicle access is limited to scheduled shift hours only. The work truck cannot be taken home, and drivers are responsible for providing their own transportation to and from it at the start and end of each shift.
· Must provide upon application - Resume, drivers abstract and criminal and judicial matters check and a copy of Ontario tow truck operator's certificate.
Pay: $75,000.00 per year
