Job Overview
South Surrey General Contracting is actively seeking a reliable and hardworking individual for casual employment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in outdoor work and a passion for maintaining and enhancing diverse landscapes, along with the ability to perform miscellaneous property maintenance tasks as required. This role demands physical labor and requires a person who thrives in various weather conditions and can adeptly handle both hand and power tools. Please note that this is a casual postion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow safety protocols to always ensure a safe working environment.
- To ensure the outdoor areas of the properties are in excellent condition and kept tidy.
- Perform landscape maintenance tasks such as mowing, trimming, weeding, pruning, planting, cutting, raking, edging, garden bed cultivation + leaf clean-up etc. to ensure the aesthetic appeal of gardens and lawns.
- Assist in the installation of new landscapes, including planting trees, shrubs, and flowers.
- Build landscape features such as patios, walkways, and retaining walls.
- Operate various hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently to complete assigned tasks.
- Cleaning of walks, driveways, and entrances, in all seasons.
- Load, unload and transport construction materials.
- General maintenance, servicing, and repairs to the properties, equipment, furnishings, fixtures, and the surrounding grounds.
- Other seasonal projects as required, (pressure washing, moss removal and treatments, winter salt/traction mix, light painting, etc.).
What we expect from you:
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to safely operate maintenance equipment including lawnmowers, leaf blowers, and hedge trimmers
- Strong ability to communicate fluently in English
- Must be able to lift 40-60 pounds regularly.
- Must be reliable with a strong work ethic.
- Must be able to follow safe work practices.
- Ability to arrive at job sites independently.
- Ability to work in a variety of outside conditions for long periods of time
- Ability to work independently with sound judgement
Must Have:
- Own reliable transportation
- Class 5 Drivers License with clean Driver’s abstract
Compensation:
- Starting at $25.00 per hour, including use of a company vehicle
