Position Overview
Wood Rescue is seeking a motivated Woodworking Technician to support the production and optimization of our woodworking operations using reclaimed materials. This role is ideal for recent graduates of programs related to wood working, wood working technology, or carpentry.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate woodworking equipment to manufacture high-quality products from reclaimed wood
- Assist in optimizing production workflows to improve efficiency and maximize material yield
- Prepare and process reclaimed wood, including sorting, cutting, sanding, and finishing
- Support quality control to ensure consistency and high standards in finished products
- Collaborate with the team to identify and implement process improvements
- Assist in maintaining tools, equipment, and a safe, organized workspace
- Track material usage and contribute to waste reduction and diversion metrics
- Participate in prototyping and development of new reclaimed wood products
Qualifications
- Recent graduate of (or currently enrolled in) a post-secondary program related to Wood Working, Wood Working Technician, Wood Working Technology, or Carpentry (Required)
- Basic experience with woodworking tools and equipment (hands-on shop experience is required)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship
- Interest in sustainability and environmental impact
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn
- Must hold a valid Ontario drivers’ license and provide a 3-year driver’s abstract if requested (Wood Rescue will cover the cost of the driver’s abstract).

This role directly supports Wood Rescue’s climate and environmental objectives by:
- Increasing the volume of wood waste diverted from landfill
- Improving production efficiency to maximize reuse of reclaimed materials
- Supporting the replacement of non-sustainable materials with recycled wood alternatives
- Contributing to reduced greenhouse gas emissions through landfill diversion and material substitution
