St. Joseph’s General Hospital Elliot Lake (SJGHEL) is seeking a Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Specialist to join our leadership team. The role will be reporting to the Patient Care Manager for IPAC. The Infection Prevention and Control Specialist will work to provide specialized expertise on safeguarding the health and safety of patients, staff, and the community by encouraging infection prevention and control culture within the organization. The individual will further advocate for the development and implementation of strategies, programs and initiatives aimed to control the spread of infections in the organization while promoting infection control excellence and maintaining legislative requirements.
The successful candidate must possess a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or hold registration in another regulated health profession. The successful candidate must also have a current Certificate of Competence in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario and Certification in Infection Control in good standing with the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology. A minimum of five (5) years experience in a clinical setting with three years involvement in infection prevention education or project work is preferred.
