Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments while maintaining strict aseptic techniques.
- Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and reviewing medical records to ensure safe and effective care.
- Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize efficiency and patient comfort.
- Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient visits, treatment plans, and medical records in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) on Tracker.
- Follow infection control protocols aligned with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and prevent cross-contamination.
- Support pediatric dentistry procedures by creating a welcoming environment for children and understanding their specific needs.
- Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, ensuring compliance with dental office standards and medical coding requirements.
Experience
- Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a fast-paced dental clinic or office setting.
- Familiarity with Tracker is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and aseptic techniques.
- Experience providing patient care across general dentistry practices with an emphasis on pediatric dentistry is advantageous.
- Knowledge of medical coding and documentation review processes to ensure accurate billing and recordkeeping.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages while demonstrating professionalism and compassion.
- Prior experience in chairside assisting during various dental procedures is beneficial but not mandatory; training will be provided if needed.
