Systems Integration Engineer, Android and QNX Platforms
Procom is seeking a Systems Integration Engineer to join a platform engineering team responsible for integrating common software components across Android and QNX environments. This role centers on triaging and debugging complex, system level issues and ensuring reliable communication between software components and ECUs. The ideal candidate brings strong problem-solving instincts, hands on debugging experience, and a solid grasp of system level interactions, networking, and embedded environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Integrate common software components across the platform, spanning both Android and QNX
- Learn and take ownership of the integrated components over time
- Analyze code, identify root causes of issues, and implement fixes
- Continuously improve component reliability by addressing recurring issues
- Analyze system logs to surface potential issues and enhance logging for faster root cause analysis
Required Skills
- Working knowledge of the Android build system, including core fundamentals such as Activities, Services, Intents, and Watchdog
- Strong C++ proficiency, with the ability to analyze code, identify root causes, and debug effectively
- Experience working within Agile development processes
- Networking domain knowledge, including Ethernet, virtual and physical networks, and socket communication
- Android middleware knowledge, including HAL, System Service, SEPolicy, and IPC via AIDL and UDS
- Understanding of build systems and how code is compiled and packaged
- Hands on programming background in C++ or Java, with strong debugging capability. This role emphasizes deep code comprehension over active development
- Experience with log analysis and system level defect debugging
- Knowledge of systems integration principles and system performance analysis
- Familiarity with tools such as Wireshark, Tombstone, and GDB
- Strong command of Git operations
- Knowledge of Android.bp and Makefile structures
- Familiarity with Copilot or similar AI coding agents
Required Experience
- Six or more years of overall IT experience, including four or more years in software development
- Hands on experience in C or C++ software development on the Android platform
Education: Bachelor's degree required
Location: Hybrid - Ottawa, Waterloo, or Oakville (3-4 days Onsite)
Duration:12 Months Contract
