Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE)

Registered Early Childhood Educators, Early Childhood Assistants, Supply Staff, Students and Volunteers.

We are seeking a passionate, professional, and relationship-focused Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) who is committed to providing outstanding early learning experiences for young children.
Working under the direction of the Centre Director, the RECE is responsible for delivering engaging, play-based programming while fostering meaningful relationships with children, families, and colleagues. More than simply supervising children, our educators inspire curiosity, encourage independence, and help every child develop confidence, character, and a lifelong love of learning.

This position may be assigned to either the Toddler or Preschool program based on operational needs.
Primary Responsibilities
Educational Programming
- Plan and implement engaging, play-based learning experiences that inspire curiosity and creativity.
- Deliver developmentally appropriate programming aligned with How Does Learning Happen?, ELECT, and the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA).
- Foster children's confidence, independence, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Create a warm, welcoming and inclusive classroom where every child feels valued.
- Encourage exploration through intentional teaching and meaningful interactions.
Child Development
- Observe, assess and document children's learning and development.
- Maintain accurate and meaningful pedagogical documentation.
- Support each child's individual strengths, interests and developmental needs.
- Promote children's social, emotional, cognitive, language and physical development.
- Support inclusive practices that recognize every child's unique potential.
Family Partnerships
- Build trusting, respectful and professional relationships with families.
- Communicate regularly regarding children's learning, development and well-being.
- Welcome family involvement and foster strong home-school partnerships.
- Participate in parent meetings when requested.
- Help create a community where every family feels welcomed, respected and supported.
Health & Safety
- Maintain compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) and all Ministry licensing requirements.
- Ensure children's health, safety and well-being at all times.
- Maintain required educator-to-child ratios.
- Conduct daily classroom safety checks.
- Follow all centre policies, emergency procedures and health protocols.
- Report incidents, hazards and concerns promptly.
Classroom Environment
- Maintain a clean, organized and engaging classroom environment.
- Prepare developmentally appropriate learning materials and invitations.
- Rotate classroom resources to reflect children's emerging interests.
- Maintain attractive documentation panels that celebrate children's learning.
- Support smooth daily routines and transitions.
Team Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with RECEs, ECAs, supply educators and placement students.
- Share ideas, resources and best practices with colleagues.
- Contribute positively to a respectful, professional and supportive workplace culture.
- Welcome opportunities to mentor students and support new team members.
- Assist with the overall operation of the centre as needed.
Professional Responsibilities
- Demonstrate professionalism, integrity and confidentiality at all times.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional learning and centre initiatives.
- Maintain registration in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
- Support continuous quality improvement throughout the centre.
- Model a growth mindset, positive attitude and commitment to lifelong learning.
Qualifications
Required
- Early Childhood Education Diploma from a recognized Ontario college or equivalent recognized by the College of Early Childhood Educators.
- Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
- Current Standard First Aid & CPR-C Certification.
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to Delano Academy.
- Strong knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), How Does Learning Happen? (HDLH), and ELECT.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong professional judgement, initiative and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of working in an early learning environment, including lifting children when necessary, sitting, kneeling, bending and participating in indoor and outdoor activities.
- Availability to work scheduled shifts during the centre's operating hours.
Preferred
- Experience working with Toddler and/or Preschool age groups.
- Experience in a licensed child care setting.
- Passion for early childhood education.
- Positive, flexible and solutions-focused approach.
- Experience with electronic documentation platforms (e.g., Lillio) is an asset.
- Additional languages are considered an asset.

Compensation
Salary: $27.00–$30.00 per hour, commensurate with qualifications, relevant licensed child care experience, and demonstrated knowledge of early childhood education.
Benefits are available in accordance with the terms of the organization's group benefits plan following the successful completion of the probationary period.
