Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager specializing in structural steel and miscellaneous metals to oversee projects from contract award through to successful installation. The ideal candidate brings a deep technical background in steel fabrication and erection workflows, exceptional client-facing communication skills, and a proven track record of delivering commercial, industrial, and institutional projects safely, on time, and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Project Execution: Lead and manage multiple concurrent steel fabrication and erection projects from initial handoff to final closeout.
- Timeline Management: Master-schedule production timelines by closely coordinating milestones with drafting teams, shop foremen, and field erection crews.
- Financial Control: Own project budgets, track material procurement costs, optimize gross profit margins, and manage progress billings.
- Change Management: Identify scope deviations early, negotiate Change Notices (CCNs), and issue formal Change Orders (COs).
- Stakeholder Interface: Serve as the primary point of contact for general contractors, structural engineers, architects, and detailers.
- Quality & Field Control: Conduct site visits to verify field measurements, proactively resolve fit-up anomalies, and systematically clear deficiency lists.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 5+ years of dedicated project management experience strictly within the structural steel and miscellaneous metals industry.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced capability in reading, interpreting, and analyzing structural drawings, architectural blueprints, and shop drawings.
- Industry Standards: Proficient understanding of local welding and building codes (e.g., CWB, CSA S16, or regional equivalents).
- Software Skills: Hands-on experience using project scheduling tools and structural software environments like Tekla Structures, SDS2, or AutoCAD.
- Education: Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or structural detailing is highly preferred.
Pay: $120,000.00-$160,000.00 per year
