THE ROLE:
Our client is seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant to provide critical support during an important reporting and financial close period. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys bringing structure to complex environments, improving processes, and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
Key responsibilities include:
Complete outstanding month-end close activities and maintain reporting timelines
Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations across multiple accounts
Analyze financial results and support consolidated financial statement reporting
Prepare month-end journal entries and identify opportunities to improve manual processes
Develop and maintain supporting working papers and reconciliations
Prepare financial reporting for multiple programs and departments
Complete quarterly government funding reports and reconcile supporting schedules
Perform activity-based costing allocations and support month-end reporting requirements
Assist with annual audit preparation and auditor requests
Partner with operational leaders to enhance financial controls, reporting accuracy, and process efficiency
ABOUT YOU:
You are a collaborative and detail-oriented accounting professional with strong full-cycle accounting experience and a proven ability to manage competing priorities independently. You are comfortable working through complex reconciliations, accruals, and month-end challenges while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Your strong interpersonal skills allow you to build effective relationships with program and operational teams, and you take pride in delivering reliable financial information that supports informed decision-making.

YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
CPA designation preferred but not required
5+ years of progressive accounting experience
Strong background in full-cycle accounting and month-end close
Solid experience preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations
Strong knowledge of accrual accounting principles
Experience preparing financial statements and consolidated reporting
Ability to manage quarterly reporting requirements and funding reconciliations
Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities
Experience with activity-based costing and account allocations is an asset
Proficiency with Sage 300 preferred
Excellent communication and stakeholder relationship-building skills
Ability to work independently and deliver results in a fast-paced environment
