As we look to the future, we are seeking a Worship Director who shares our heart for discipleship, disciple making as well as multiplication of musicians, leaders and churches.
Role Overview
The Worship Director / Pastoral Care is a leadership role responsible for leading the worship ministry with vision, spiritual depth, and operational excellence as well as being part of our Pastoral Care team. This person will guide the worship team in both musical and spiritual growth, build repeatable systems for weekly worship gatherings, and serve as a key collaborator with church leadership. They will love, care for and encourage those new to faith, new to our church or those not in a group.
We are looking for someone who can begin the transition process as soon as possible and ideally be in place before the end of July.
Key ResponsibilitiesWorship Leadership
- Direct Sunday worship gatherings with musical excellence and spiritual sensitivity.
- Develop and disciple worship team members (musicians, vocalists, technical volunteers) toward spiritual and skill growth.
- Recruit, train, and schedule worship team volunteers.
- Cast and communicate a long-term vision for the worship ministry in alignment with church leadership.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, multiplication, and Spirit-led worship within the team.
Administration & Planning
- Plan and organize weekly worship sets, song selections, and run-of-set.
- Oversee music licensing, chord charts, and song library management.
- Oversee and Coordinate with the tech/AV team for sound, lighting, and media needs.
- Manage the worship ministry calendar, including special services, events, and rehearsal schedules.
Vision & Growth
- Think long-term about the health and growth of the worship ministry.
- Explore opportunities for the worship team to write and record original music.
- Support and resource other churches through worship leadership when possible.
- Engage with the broader church staff team in collaborative planning and vision.
Pastoral Care
- Previous pastoral care experience in a church setting.
- A genuine love for people and a heart to care for those who are new, hurting, isolated, grieving, or struggling.
- Strong listening skills and the ability to offer biblical encouragement and prayer.
- Maintains appropriate confidentiality and healthy personal boundaries.
- Experience serving in a pastoral, caregiving, mentoring, small group, chaplaincy, or similar ministry role.
QualificationsRequired
- Committed follower of Jesus with a heart for discipleship and multiplication.
- Demonstrated experience leading worship and Worship Teams in a church or ministry context.
- Strong musical ability (vocal and/or instrumental) with an excellent ear, technique and ability to teach.
- Ability to lead, inspire, and develop a team of volunteers.
- Organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple responsibilities independently.
- A warm, trustworthy, spiritually mature follower of Jesus who naturally notices people, listens well, and creates environments where individuals feel known and cared for. They combine a shepherd’s heart with practical organizational and music ability
- A passion for helping people follow Jesus, become like Jesus, and do what Jesus did.
Preferred
- Experience with Planning Center, Multi-tracks or similar worship planning software.
- Experience directing musicians in live environment
- Familiarity with audio/visual production and live sound environments.
- Experience in songwriting or original music production.
- Training or education in music, ministry, or a related field.
- Experience in caring for, nurturing and building up others.
- Gifted in shepherding.
