Duties
- Safely operate Class 1 trucks to transport freight over long distances or local routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure optimal functioning and identify any mechanical issues early
- Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment when necessary, ensuring proper handling and securing of cargo
- Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries, mileage logs, and vehicle maintenance records
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and clients to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues promptly
- Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting as needed to minimize downtime during trips
- Follow all safety protocols and company policies to promote a safe working environment on the road and at facilities
Requirements
- Valid Class 1 commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record
- Proven experience in commercial driving, preferably with freight transportation or similar logistics roles
- Ability to operate heavy equipment such as forklifts safely and efficiently
- Knowledge of automotive repair basics for troubleshooting minor vehicle issues
- Strong understanding of safety regulations related to trucking and transportation
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and clients
- Physical ability to load/unload freight, including lifting heavy items when necessary
