Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Estimator specializing in Structural Steel to join our dynamic construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project specifications, and collaborating with project teams to ensure successful project execution. Duties
- Develop comprehensive cost estimates for structural steel projects using industry-standard software such as Bluebeam/Excel/Tekla.
- Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts to accurately assess project scope.
- Collaborate with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to negotiate pricing and terms, ensuring competitive bids.
- Perform quantity take-offs and analyze material costs, labor, equipment, and other project expenses.
- Assist in the preparation of bid proposals, budgets, and project schedules.
- Monitor project costs throughout the construction process to ensure adherence to budgets and identify potential cost control issues.
- Coordinate with construction management teams to align estimates with project timelines and specifications.
- Maintain detailed records of all estimating activities for future reference and audits.
Experience
- Proven experience in construction estimating, particularly within structural steel and misc. steel.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam for digital plan review and markup.
- Experience with an estimating software is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of construction site processes, contracts, and project management principles.
- Demonstrated ability in negotiation, pricing strategies, and cost control techniques.
- Familiarity with construction management practices including scheduling, site safety protocols, and quality assurance to better evaluate tender requirements.
- Prior involvement in projects requiring detailed quantity take-offs and bid preparation is preferred. This position requires a professional who is organized, analytical, and capable of working collaboratively across multiple teams to deliver precise estimates that support successful project outcomes.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Up to $140,000.00 per year
