Overview
We are seeking a skilled Excavator Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience operating heavy equipment, particularly excavators, and will be responsible for performing various tasks on construction sites. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical operations and the ability to work effectively in a team environment while ensuring safety and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Operate excavators and other heavy equipment, including dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and water trucks, to complete construction tasks.
- Perform excavation work for foundations, trenches, and other site preparations.
- Conduct routine maintenance checks on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate with site supervisors and other operators to coordinate tasks and ensure project timelines are met.
- Follow safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
- Assist in horizontal drilling operations as needed.
- Transport materials using dump trucks and tankers as required.
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to heavy equipment operation.
- Proven experience in operating excavators and other construction machinery.
- Familiarity with commercial driving regulations and practices.
- Background in construction site operations with hands-on experience in various equipment types including Caterpillar machinery.
- Ability to operate dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and water trucks effectively.
- Knowledge of paving techniques and horizontal drilling processes is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Pay: $35.00-$47.00 per hour
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Vermilion, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
Experience:
- Mainline Water & sewer : 5 years (required)
- Excavator Mainline : 5 years (required)
Licence/Certification:
- Class 5 Licence (required)
